470µH Inductor

Axial inductors are a type of electronic component used in circuits to store energy in the form of a magnetic field. They are constructed with a coil of wire wound around a core material. The wire is typically wound in a cylindrical shape, with leads extending from each end of the coil, allowing for through-hole mounting on a printed circuit board (PCB). Axial inductors are often marked with color codes or alphanumeric codes to indicate their inductance value, tolerance, and sometimes their power rating.

An axial inductor is also referred to as a color ring inductor.  It is a two-terminal passive electronic component that is used for filtering, tuning, power electronics and spike suppression. Inductors are ideal to use in the previously listed applications because they have an innate ability to store energy in the form of a magnetic field as long as current is flowing through them. When the current ceases to flow, the established magnetic field collapses and re-introduces the current back into the circuit.

Inductance Value: 470 µH (equal to 0.47 millihenries or mH).
Core Material: Usually ferrite or iron powder to maximize magnetic permeability and reduce the number of physical wire turns needed. 
Common Package Types: Available in axial lead (resembling color-banded resistors), radial pluggable choke coils, and surface-mount (SMD) configurations. 
Tolerance: Typically features a ± 5% or ± 10% tolerance range.

Filtering and Choking: Blocking high-frequency alternating current (AC) while allowing direct current (DC) to pass in power supply circuits.
Signal Tuning: Used in radio frequency (RF) circuits and communication equipment alongside capacitors to select specific frequencies. 
Spike Suppression: Protecting sensitive components by absorbing sudden voltage spikes or current surges
