This 8x8 LED Dot Matrix is an array of 64 total LED lights, arranged in 8 columns and 8 rows, designed to meets strict ROHS standard. It is built intelligently with only 16 pins to minimize the amount of digital outputs needed from microprocessors, and works by connecting current through the rows and the ground through the columns – thus causing the LEDs to light up where the row and column meet. This, in conjunction with multiplexing at a high frequency, can provide a clear display of almost any kind of pixelated 8x8 image.
