A 5mm LED is the most common industry-standard, through-hole light-emitting diode with a 5-millimeter lens diameter. It typically operates at a forward current of 20mA, with forward voltages ranging from about 1.8V to 2.2V for red, yellow, and green, and 3.0V to 3.6V for blue and white.

Anode and Cathode: The longer leg is positive (anode) and the shorter leg is negative (cathode).
Lens Types: Available in clear (focused, high intensity) or diffused (softer, wider viewing angle).
